Hair loss - do shampoos or conditioners make any difference?

I've always had thick hair that covers my entire head. I even had Beatles style bangs well into my 20s. As I grew older I had shorter haircuts and parted my hair to the side. More recently, an over zealous barber took too much off and revealed to me a pronounced widow's peak and recession of the hair line.

The part that's recessed (temples) still has some hairs, seems mostly like short baby hairs. Because of this and because there's no baldness on either side of my family, I am thinking (perhaps wishfully?) that shampoos and conditioners may make a difference. I've never used conditioner, and use basic off the shelf shampoo.

I have been noticing dandruff so I may definitely benefit from better hair care products, but I just have no idea what to use. A lot of the stuff advertised on the net seem like Snake Oil Sales material...Hair loss - do shampoos or conditioners make any difference?
hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago I suffered from hair loss and since hair loss is hereditary my dad suffered from it too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss. the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also you should use some herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

good luck!

nioxin (just google it) is a very popular high end salon shampoo that promotes volume and hair growth, of course men could use it too. Its only in the real big time salons and trade secret stores.

I heard somewheere..it could be a myth im not sure but I've heard it a lot..that pantine makes your hair fall out.
Nioxin shampoo are good. If that doesn't work try Nexxus Biotin shampoo for thinning hair. If that doesn't work try mane n' tail. I love mane n' tail. It makes your hair soft, strong, and grow so fast!

I'm not sure if my hair loss has to do with the fact that I use to use shampoos with sodium laureth sulfate?

I have recently been hearing that hair loss isn't always hereditary and that this chemical commonly found in shampoos also causes hair thinning and hair loss. Is this true? I also want to know that if I start using sulfate-free shampoos, if it could slow down the process?I'm not sure if my hair loss has to do with the fact that I use to use shampoos with sodium laureth sulfate?

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

Hi there!

Hair loss or thinning of hair can be attributed to any number of reasons, hereditary being the most common source for hair loss. I would recommend going to a doctor or specialist that can help determine why you are losing your hair if that's the case. All natural shampoos are of course better to use than chemical based. I would suggest you start using shampoos that help promote a healthy scalp and provide nourishment to your hair. Shampoos that contain zinc is good to use, head %26amp; shoulders is one of those but it also contains other chemicals as well, but many people use it to maintain their hair.
Hi, You are absolutely right. Hair loss is not always hereditary. It can also happen by a chemical called Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and its close relative Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) . I have done a lot of research on this topic because even i was looking for an SLES free shampoo. The day i stopped using my regular shampoo and started using ZULVERA herbal hair shampoo my hair loss has stopped.

Official site of Zulvera: http://www.herbalhairshampoo.com

You can find more information about this SLES free shampoo at http://golden-reviews.com/hairloss/
There are many different shampoos that have ridiculous ingredients in them to increase hair loss.

Your best bet is to use shampoos that focus on natural ingredients..

and also there's this company that focus on mainly treating hair loss only.. you should check it out!
Hey there robert ,

Yeah definetly watch out for non FDA approved ingredients

You could try Provillus ( http://budurl.com/ProvillusTreatment ) - worked well for me + it's FDA approved.

I have been using it for about 3 months now and I am definetly seeing results.

As far as i remember they do have a money back guarantee.. so in case it doesn't help , you'll get your money back.

Does shampooing(washing) your hair help prevent hair loss?

I do not shampoo my hair often cause it does not get oily/dirty fast... i may even leave it for month(s) before i shampoo it :P. sometimes when im stressed i pull out the hairs with the roots... but now im starting to worry if i will go bald when im older... (im 16, male). should i start shampooing my hair regularly if it helps prevent hair loss?

also any recommendations on how i could help myself not go bald in my future.Does shampooing(washing) your hair help prevent hair loss?
Shampooing will not necessarily prevent hair loss. It can help remove some build up, which can clog your follicles, but your biggest problem is pulling out your hair.

What you need is to seek out a professional that will help you deal with stress so that you will stop pulling out your hair. When I was stressed, I used to eat; now, I do things like go for walks, write short stories, play video games, swear (a lot)...anything to keep my mind off of the bad habits. That is the key--replace a bad habit with a good one. It will take a while, but at least you will save your hair.Does shampooing(washing) your hair help prevent hair loss?
No problem. Good luck. Report Abuse

Shampooing does not prevent hair loss, but you should wash your hair and body every day as it is healthy and sanitary. The most common type of hairloss is caused by a naturally occuring chemical that attacks the hair follicles on the top of your head and shrinks them. This can be slowed down with rogain and other types of medicines. Another way to permenantly lose your hair is by damaging the follicles in some way. Other things also cause temporary hair loss, but as long as the follicles do not get damaged that type of hair loss is treatable. The worst type of hair loss is obviously male pattern baldness, which can be slowed down but not reversed. The only way to treat that is with hair follicle transplantation. Ask about your grandfathers, if one of them was bald you may have the gene too. Good Luck
Well, first off, stop pulling your hair out! lol You can break that habit by finding some other way to deal with any stress. Also, I wouldn't imagine it is good for you to go months without washing your hair. If your hair doesn't get oily/dirty that quickly, start using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and use is every other day. Even if your hair doesn't get oily, it will at least make sure your scalp is kept clean and moisturized.

Can shampoos like Nioxin with DHT inhibitors help prevent or slow down hair loss?

And is it safe for use in people under 18?Can shampoos like Nioxin with DHT inhibitors help prevent or slow down hair loss?
yes! it is possible!!

anyway as we know - hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections, hormonal problems, to mention a few.

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

Can my hair loss be caused by Head & Shoulders Shampoo?

I hav been using head %26amp; shoulders for about 2 month now. I started using this becuz i had dandruff. It's working on the dandruff really well. Yet, a few weeks later, i got sick and had a fever. After the fever, I hav been losing a lot of hair ever since. This is scaring me a lot. Every time a brush my hands thru my hair, at least 2 pieces come out, and im no even brushing that hard. I tried using the shampoo, Pantene I used to use, but I still list a lot of hair. Can anyone help me and giv me some advice? This is really scaring me.Can my hair loss be caused by Head %26amp; Shoulders Shampoo?
you losing your hair is regular. You actually lose about 150 a day. its natural and supposed to happen. calm down..breath..

And not talking showers daily can make it seem like your losing a lot in one time but its nothing to stress over. Can my hair loss be caused by Head %26amp; Shoulders Shampoo?
I have never heard of shampoos causing hair loss. Now hair that is abused by over combing when wet, over dryed with blow dryers etc. can make your hair brittle and break off more but not kill the growth center of the hair itself.

Pulling tightly on the hair consistently with hair styles like braids, corn rows, pig tails etc. can cause damage to the hair follicle itself and cause some permanent hair loss but not over all balding or large bald spots.

There are other causes of hair loss that are hereditary also.....look in your family and see if there is a pattern of thin hair or baldness that runs in your family.

I hope that this helped.
Probably not from the shampoo. If you get very sick, your hair can thin out. Try to make sure you are eating right and avoiding things that can damage your hair. (dyes, bleach, excessive heat, etc.) You lose hair every day, without noticing it. If it doesn't get better, and you are still concerned, you may want to ask your doctor about it.
Hair loss is natural in most people. I don't know how old you are, so forgive me, I don't mean to offend you. If you are middle aged, it is natural for your hair to thinnen out.

If you are a teen it is natural due to hormone levels.

If it is a new shampoo, you may just be adjusting to it.

Also, if your hair is thick, it is natural for your hair to become quite brittle if it needs cutting. I personally find that I loose LOTS when straightening, even though I use heat protection, and then some when I brush it.

It's completly natural to loose your hair, your body is getting rid of the unneeded things..

If you stress over it, you will loose more, as stress distrupts your hormone levels, which cause hair loss and also acne problems.

If you are really worried, see a hairdresser, or use a hair endurance shampoo... I know that H%26amp;S actually does an anti dandruff hair endurance?

Hope this helps, Ginger x
The hair loss may be if you use a lot of heat on your hair or if you dye your hair regulary
I was in the same situation, i am 14, believe me, if u r a teenager i think there is nothing to worry about, thats what the doctor said, it is normal, and yes i think head and shoulders may have a part in it!, i think it is too strong for hair to manage, especially young hair lyk mine, if u live in england u would be familar with the soap brand/shop LUSH, my mum bought me a hormonal hair soap shampoo from there calles NEW, its pink and contains natural things lyk cineamon, which is the stronest, i hve been using it for 3'4 months now and believe it does work gradually

dont be scared though lol

hope i helped

Does Loreal shampoos cause hair loss?

please tell me the benefits of loreal shampoos because I`m thinking to use their shampoos, every day.Does Loreal shampoos cause hair loss?
NO, they do not cause hair loss. I have been using L'oreal hair care products as well as other products in the cosmetic line for years and I have never heard of anyone experiencing hair loss. I prefer L'oreal to any other brand even salon brands. If you are unsure, you may be able to contact L'oreal consultants through their website and address your concerns directly with them.Does Loreal shampoos cause hair loss?
I don't think they necessarily cause hair loss. If it causes damage to your hair it may cause it to break off or your ends to split. Breakage can appear to be hair loss. Honestly the best products to use are professional products. The drug store and grocery store products are not pH balanced where as the professional ones are.
    Hair loss? No.

    Loreal's shampoos are not bad.
you are ignorant, of course they don't cause hair loss
yes they do they made me go completely bald
    no i luv loreal

Hair loss on staff terrier i,m using malaseb shampoo?

All my dogs have had good coats, however I hardly ever bath them. I clean them off with warm water after a dirty walk and IF we have a good summer I sometimes bath them and leave them wet. I can bury my nose into my dogs coat, who has not been bathed for about two years and she smells clean and sweet and so does my house.

I think that the hair loss stems from a dietary problem. My present dog and perhaps my dogs which are long gone have suffered with various problems which I now realise were because of what I gave them to eat. I think that your dogs problem could be resolved by feeding a grain free dog food. I will paste some info from my archives, hopefully this will help.

鈥?I have learnt by my mistakes. My present dog had dreadful problems because of the food which I gave her, I experimented with dog food, I tried raw diets, cooked diets and over the years I tried various dog foods. She did not like the raw diets and the dog food that I gave her resulted in diarrhea. As an experienced dog owner I introduced any changes gradually. Nevertheless my dog still had problems. She was eight years old before I resolved her problem.

Eventually, because of my researches on the Internet I found that the experts have discovered that GRAIN in our dog鈥檚 diet causes many problems. I now know that grain creates acidity in the blood. This causes skin problems, digestive issues, allergies, sickness, diarrhea, anal gland problems etc.,

if your dog has skin problems or any of the above problems PLEASE CHANGE THE DIET. Avoid Grain, rice, beef derivatives and dairy food

I now give my dog a dried food which uses beet for fiber and fish. It鈥檚 called Fish4Dogs and I buy it on the Internet. Look on the Internet and investigate yourself. Gluten free dog food is not enough to help our dogs, it MUST BE GRAIN FREE.

A rapid change of diet will upset your dog; any change of diet must be done gradually. Do please change to a grain free diet. I have had sixteen dogs throughout the years and they have had various problems. Perhaps if I had known about the dangers of GRAIN they would have had fewer problems. .Hair loss on staff terrier i,m using malaseb shampoo?
I have a 6 month golden with the same problem. If you're in the UK I think you can only get this shampoo from a vet anyway. We have managed to stop the hairloss by, washing all bedding in non bio powder at boil wash, changing to hypo allergenic dog food, no dairy products/wheat, antibiotics and the same shampoo. We have also been putting anti lick cream on as we think she was licking it due to habit once the infection had gone. She got the all clear from vet last night but have to continue with bathing once a week for 4 months to make sure any deep irritation goes.

Hope this helps.Hair loss on staff terrier i,m using malaseb shampoo?
As you have malaseb I assume you've been to the vet. Try adding a spoonful or so of raw liquidised Spinach to his/her food every day as well as about a teaspoon of corn oil. Give it a couple of weeks or even a month to work, it does take time but a lot of people find it works. If it doesn't have a look at your dogs diet, put him/her on a chicken and rice diet, it can take up to 3 months to work but is worth the effort. Remember though, nothing but chicken and rice.
I breed and own staffi's and do not recommend bathing them unless they absolutly need it or the vet has said too.

with these dogs having short close nit fur they get cold very quickly especially when wet.

if you wash your dog on a regular basis you are not giving the dogs natural oils chance to build up properly again before washing them off. these oils protect the fur and skin are there to help keep skin healthy too. excessive bathing of a dog can cause hair to fall out and skin problems to occur.

i would say try not washing your dog for a while and see if their fur starts to re grow. if this does happen dont wash your dog more than once in 2 months unless they have been somewhere dirty or smelly like ponds and mud puddles. i let mud dry on my staff then groom it with a curry comb this gets all the mud and loose fur out with out the need of a bath and encourages the natural oils to form by brushing.

    need more advice? mail tilliandzeus@yahoo.com
i no this sounds stupid but have you checked that your dog has not got fleas, as if not treated can cause hair loss.

Also my dog was alergic to dust mites and that caused hair loss we took him to the vets and he now has injections every 6 months and we have no problems.

If it is not fleas i would take your dog to the vets before you start using different shampoos, hell can take test to see if your dog has any allergies.

    good luck
there are lost of reason for hair loss in dogs, fleas, allergy to anything really but food allergy's are common so try a diet change to something like JWB or RoyalCanin, over brushing, over bathing.

if it continues then the vet can do allergy tests to find what is affecting your dog.

jodie does have a point, b1tches do tend to mault before a season, but due to the coat type of the SBT i dont think they would lose much hair at all if any, its more longer coated dogs with soft fur.
if you are making your dog have a bath everyday then dont use the shampoo everyday. Maybe 2 or 3 times a week. Even if you are making your dog have a bath everyday, its not good. Make him have a bath every 2 or 3 days.

Also after every bath, bow dry your dogs hair and then comb it a lot. It will reduce hair fall.

    Good luck =)
Has your vet prescribed Malaseb specifically for your Staffie's condition? It's quite harsh, if effective when used for the correct purpose so I'd be careful.
If it is female it just shows she is coming into season and is quite normal
    Mange. go to a vet.

Try any and all Nioxin products! They are made for hair loss by professionals sold in salons!

i read that the #1 hair growth pill in the market is called provillus. it brings quick results.

    www.provillus.com
if u are looking for a shampoo, u should go to any pharmacy and ask for ducray shampoo or pregaine shampoo

but shampoo alone will not be effective , u should look for provitamin B5 ampoules and apply them 3 times weekly to the scalp

also, take food supplement to provide good nutrition to your hair
Sounds like you're stressing out about stressing out. I don't think there's a magical shampoo out there that's going to stop your hair from falling. If you do find something that claims to be - it could have so much of the right stuff that it proves itself to be superficial. You should try focusing more on what you eat and having a healthy life style. Relax.
Start messaging your scalp with a hair oil/hair dressing that contains natural herbs and vitamins. I use Mane 'N Tail Carrot Oil Cream and Olive Oil Cream. Use the balls of your fingers when messaging your scalp. This will help the blood to circulate which stimulates the hair follicles which promotes hair growth. Do this at least two times a week.
I heard that drinking alot of milk helps, and you could go to any GNC vitamin store and they sell vitamins for your hair. Also tea tree oil shampoo helps.
go to a professional salon and get this stuff called nexus. it really does work because i dye my hair to much and my hair was starting to fall out and i started using it and in 2 weeks my hair felt so thick.. like it use to be and now i dont use it at all and i havent had problems since. nexus is mainly for hair loss. its expensive though. ya dont do dove.. dove is so bad for your hair.. i went to beauty school and tested alot of shampoos... and dove has a very high PH balance.. which drys your hair out.. its just like perming your hair. and dont use Lorel (spelling) that stuff is so bad. and dont use suave that stuff is even worse. trust me.dont go to a drug store either.. go to a professional salon.. oh and nixion is a great product as well. its best out of all... but its even more expensive.
try dove, after i had my little girlmy hair started to fall out bad
You NEED to get on the Nexxus VitaTress Thinning Hair Solutions program. It is a non-drug approach that targets all 7 major causes of thinning hair. Buy the starter kit, it has vitamins, shampoo, and a conditioner. BEST OF LUCK!
Garnier shampoos r really good,After using it my hair has really become strong %26amp; i never observed hair fall,Also u can try this,Get some methi powder %26amp; make it in to a paste ,apply on to hair %26amp; wash after 20 min,U;ll find the difference
try taking puritan's pride vitamin for the hair. they are have a good sale right now - can buy one bottle, get one free. also can buy 2 bottles, get 4 free. it helped strengthened my hair. good luck!
Check your drug store, they have vitamins directly for hair and nails. Shampoo, buy a mild one that volumnizes, the new L'Oreal Pro Vive is very good. I use it for highlighted hair, but they have a volumnizing one too. Always use conditioner and rinse it out well, they say, if you think you've rinsed enough, rinse once more

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Go to a local hair salon. They should have a few different choices on products that will slow down the loss of hair. I usually sell Nioxin but there are more out there. Most of the time, it will come in a kit with 2-3 steps.

Keep in mind most of these products do no regrow hair....I have sold several myself...occasionally it will produce some baby fine hair but it isn't the same. However, most of them will aid in retarding the loss of hair.

I know that Nioxin makes a good product for fine and thinning hair:

You should also consult a dermatologist to possibly begin taking Propecia.

    http://www.propecia.com/finasteride/prop鈥?/a>

It has the potential to help you stop losing hair and may even regrow some of the hair that you lost.

I don't think there are any shampoos that will stop hair loss as hair loss is caused by a chemical on the INSIDE of your body.

    Good luck to you!

Hair falls due to genetic reasons, stress, pollution, thyroid imbalance, chemicals in hair styling products and lack of proper nutrition. Home remedies are cheap , natural and without any side effects. Some of the home remedies for treating hair fall are:

1.Apply the white of a raw egg on the hair for 30 minutes, and then wash it off with a shampoo. A mixture of lemon juice and egg white could also be used to strengthen the roots of hair.

    2. Massage the head with oil for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with a shampoo. A hot oil massage with olive oil will also help.

3.Apply a mixture of lemon juice and juice of amla to the scalp. This also helps control dandruff in the hair

    4. Boil neem leaves in water for an hour and let it cool. Wash the hair with this water. Alternately neem oil can be mixed with coconut oil and massaged where there is hair fall

    5. The juice of fresh coriander can be massaged onto the scalp will reduce hair loss.

    6. Ensure that you eat nutritious food, with plenty of leafy vegetables. Have a soya milk drink and multivitamin tablets if you do not have time to have a healthy breakfast.

    7. Apply conditioner only to your hair not to the scalp or hair roots. The conditioner could damage your hair. Henna (mehandi) will help control hair loss.

8.Try to reduce the stress and tension in your life, learn to relax. Stress causes hair loss.

None that work sadly or you'd never see a bald man in his 30/40's etc....hair loss is hereditary..if you dad or grandad is bald so are you gong to be my friend!

Its quicker and cheaper to get use to the fact your going to be a slap head and stop worrying about it...worrying gives you stress and stress will just speed up the process.
hmm.. well I don't know about shampoos, but I've heard that a good way to reduce hairloss is to wash your hair in warm water, not hot (and I wash mine every other day with shampoo, not every day)
a hair net or shave it and everyone will get used to it
i found this for you...........Thicker and fuller hair with Toppik UK hair loss treatments. ... Hair Treatment | Thickening Shampoo | Hair regrowth product | Thick Hair | Hair Loss Shampoo ........at.www.hair123.co.uk
you can bye shampoos that thicken your hair but the only ones that would really work and you would notice a difference is a product called kerastase which you can only go and buy in salons and it is quite expensive but kerastase is a very good brand!
    leave in conditioner,,,but not a weekly thing,,hair breakage,hair loss,is due to lack of vitamin,and also stress,,and try and use less dryers,irons and such,,,,go naturall,,for a while,,give your hair a rest....
the more you mess with it the quicker it will start to go just wash it twice a week in a mild shampoo and conditioner and style it with what ever products you use, enjoy your hair while you can(sorry)...
I agree with Julie who said Nioxin... that's the best thing out there... Rogaine is OK, but as soon as you stop using it, the problem is back, because Rogaine's active ingredient is a drug, once you stop using it the symptoms return, so you must use it for life. Nioxin isn't something that you necessarily can't stop using (but it's better if you don't) plus it's all natural so you don't have to worry about side effects.

Go to a salon that sells Nioxin to have a stylist recommend what formula you should be using for your hair, or you can read more about it on their website... http://www.nioxin.com/

    Hope this helps you!
shampoos only wash hair and make it shiny or flake free. you need to go to the health department and find some solutions to use.

What shampoo stops or slows hair loss?? Does Nioxion or Nourish help?

Like, I've been shedding hair like crazy this year and it's driving me insane. My scalp is starting to become visible. Especially when its wet. But when it's dry it's not that bad. You just have to comb through it to see it. Now I know you lose 100 hairs a day, but... I'm 18 and it's a huge blow at this age. It's not a big concern at this time but i'd like to tackle it before it's to late. The Nioxion said it gets rid of DHT so that might be good. So any suggestions would be good. Thanks. What shampoo stops or slows hair loss?? Does Nioxion or Nourish help?
anyway hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also I used herbal treatment - TrichoZed

It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.com/?id=fc7a24

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

    good luck!

    Hair loss shampoos - trichotillomania?

I suffer from trichotillomania ( hair pulling) i have stopped for the past 4 weeks. I would like a shampoo/product that will encourage my hair growth and make it look thicker as i feel that a more noticable affect will allow me to fight the urge for hair pullin. There is a treatment but that is 拢1500!!!Hair loss shampoos - trichotillomania?
There is nothing you can put on the outside of your hair that is going to make your hair grow faster. There are some coating products that will make your hair slightly heavier and feel thicker, but they also may have unpleasant side-effects.

Now that you have stopped the pulling, you just need to wait and let the hair grow back. It most often will. There may be a few roots that have been very damaged and the hair may be slightly deformed, or misshapened. Rarely, some roots will have been destroyed and will never grow back.

What shampoo has tree oil to stop hair loss?

Tree oilWhat shampoo has tree oil to stop hair loss?
I don't know about any shampoos with tree oil in it, but you can buy T- Tree oil seperately at your local walmart or beauty store for like $6 bucks.. I know a lot of people especially african americans who use tree oil to help prevent breakage of hair. They'll just shampoo their hair with a good strong shampoo and conditioner, rinse, then afterwards pour and let the tree oil run down the scalp of their head and massage into their scalp everyday. I don't know if it helps for people with already bald or LOSS of hair, but it can help stop breakage of hair which leads to loss hair.. If you are losing hair, you may want to check your doctor to find out if medications may be the reason or medical problem.. Also, I know there is some stuff called organic root growth system that is like shampoo, creams and what not..but I know it's sold to african americans at a beauty shop. What shampoo has tree oil to stop hair loss?
Tree oil for hair loss???? Sounds bogus to me. Go get yourself a prescription for Propecia, that stuff actually works. They even have generic Propecia out there on the web, that works too.

Are there any shampoo's out there, that help prevent hair loss?

Have you ever tried the line of NIOXIN, we use it in the salon. Nioxin is used for clients with fine and thinning hair, or noticeably thinning hair. It comes in 2 types one for chemically treated hair (color, highlites, perms),and one for normal hair. You start out with a starter kit it has a sm. bottle of cleanser, which is shampoo, scalp therapy which acts as your conditioner and a special product which works against balding, it comes in a foam or wetter based sprays. I have alot of clients that have used it after chemotherapy and have had awesome results. the starter kit is usually around $39.00 i would suggest not using it with any other products and when u completed all of the kit to move to the individual bigger bottles. The great thing about it is that if u stop using it u will not lose any more hair that u had or have from using the product. You can find this product at Mastercuts, regis, and JCpennys. I hope i helped u out a little. MindyAre there any shampoo's out there, that help prevent hair loss?

I don't know how old you are, but if you're losing your hair and you're young, it seems to me you ought to consult a doctor.I have slit-ends and got trimming done 21 days past.i shampoo my hair once in a week due hair loss.please tell
Split ends are normal. Get regular trims to prevent the splits from going too far up the hair shaft, don't brush your hair when it's wet, don't use too many heat appliances (straighteners, curling irons, too-hot hair dryers) and use a good moisturizer, concentrating on the ends. Also, try taking a good multi-vitamin, that might help strengthen your hair.I have slit-ends and got trimming done 21 days past.i shampoo my hair once in a week due hair loss.please tell
Try Hair loss remedies at http://www.hairthinning.org/
well every day you loose 200 hair it's normal but new one's come back to replace old one's.don't worry.

split end's is due to lack of proper hair care, dry end's and bad weather.

oile your hair tip's and always keep a syser's to hand when ever you see a split end cut it off at the tip yourself.

    good luck.
Start oiling ur hair twice a week.....if u have curly hair (lik me) then u should use almond or olive oil or mix them both in 2:3 ratio.

if u have straight hair u can use coconut oil.

use shampoo which controls hair loss and start using conditioners if u dont.

Pantene hair loss conditioner is really good. dont get ur hair cut every month or soo. trust me i had the same prob but after a month my hair became like wow.

U can also put 3 bttered eggs in ur hair just before wash for 45 min.

and after sum tim u can straighten or curl ur hair or anything...it wont be a bother anymore.....goodluck.
Oil massage is good for the hair more over use a mild shampoo. Don't comb wet hair.
I would suggest you getting a shampoo for hair loss. Not sure which country you;re at, but once a week seems long in this hot climate.
U MUST ASK THE PERSON WHO HAD CUT UR HAIR AS HE/SHE WILL GIVE U A BETTER ANSWER FOR THIS

I was really surprised that I got the most compliments and thought that my hair was most managable, what there is left, when I used coal tar shampoo, I have no Idea why in the world I tried it in the first place anyway. But I swear I get compliments, compliments. Perhaps its pitty because it smells like I smoke or I'm loosing my hair, but I don't think so. Nioxin has a dry clean feeling and I think it produces a different kind of clean. And hey the new dove shampoo that came is really light and doesn't feel so greasy. Best gentle shampoo to prevent hair loss?

Hey. I am a 19 year old guy who recently has been having bad experiences with hair loss. Every time I go to wash my hair with head and shoulders 2 in 1 (shampoo and conditioner in the same bottle), after I am done lathering a lot of hair is in my hands. This has never happened before. Sometimes my hair is falling out when I am not showering, for example one day I woke up and my pillow had alot of hair on it. Some people have also told me that my hair looks dry. I want to know a good gentle shampoo that will help my hair. Thanks a lot.Best gentle shampoo to prevent hair loss?
Things like that happen because of stress, things that are troubling you,not that great of a diet meaning the way you exercise, lack of fitness and excercise, or deficiency in vitamins, or maybe it's a health problem, you can check with your doctor. Lastly head and shoulders can be too drying or harsh for your head....you can use a gentle shampoo...you can try Johnson's Baby Shampoo because that can be good for anyone's head. Or checking with your doctor of what kind of shampoo to use is the best bet. Good luck!!Best gentle shampoo to prevent hair loss?
I would say not to use chemicals on your hair. Why don't you go for some home remedies. Egg whites, lemon juice, oil massages, reducing stress and diet changes can reduce hair fall and make it healthier. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for hair loss as well as for healthy hair at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/hairfall.htm鈥?/a>
Go to the Doc - there must be some reason for this type of extreme hair loss (thyroid maybe). Worst scenario - he may suggest Rogaine!
Instead of frequently using shampoo you can try this option once in a while to strengthen hair. Two egg white mixed with two tablespoon of yogurt can be applied for 30 minutes and then washed, when done at least once a week prevents hair loss . • Shampoo etc for hair loss/thinning?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend an inexpensive but good shampoo or supplement (oil/etc) for thinning/falling hair. I'm into the natural stuff, so keep it real. Shampoo etc for hair loss/thinning?
My mother and brother use Biotin. You have to take it everyday and ofcourse over an extended period before you see results, but my mother has seen great results. My brother just started on it about a week ago so I can't report on his progress just yet :-)

Which shampoo best for hair loss?

hey guys, i'm 16 and i'm losing like 5 strands of hair a day. iunno wat to do? ma dad isn't bald and he's like 49. mom's side the , no problem either. i went to doc, she said ...it's natural during that age? i'm worried. don't want to be bald by 25. what should i do? which type of shampoo should i use? i use pert 2 in 1 conditioner n shampooWhich shampoo best for hair loss?
The average person looses WAY more than 5 strands a day lmao.

BUT if you're really that worried about it, try Nioxion. It's only sold at salons.

And pert.....is not a good shamp. and cond. So get rid of it.Which shampoo best for hair loss?
Mane 'N Tail promotes hair growth. You will have to use the conditioner too.
Well, I can't really suggest a shampoo because I don't know the type of hair you have xD.
My dad uses Pert and he has a receding hairline. ALSO, we all lose a lot more than 5 strands a day!! More like a 100! It's natural to lose hair every day. BTW, I used Nioxin for like a week, because I have fine hair and I wanted to thicken it, and I wound up with really itchy dandruff!! I just wanted to scratch all the skin from my scalp, it itched so bad. But everyone is different.................
Make sure you get a shampoo that has no sulfate which is found in a lot of shampoo's. sulfate is what drys out your hair and makes it weaker. just look on the back on the bottle.
Massage aloe Vera gel over the scalp, leave it for about one hour. After this rinse the hair with warm water. It gives excellent results for hair loss if one uses this massage at least 3-4 times a week. Check out

Don't worry about hair loss, just tell everyone it was worn off by the head board of the bed.

God only created so many ';perfect'; heads, the rest he covered with hair. What is a good shampoo or hair treatment that reduces hair loss. I have tried so many things but nothing works
    Hi there,

I have yet to hear of a shampoo that's proven to prevent you from losing your hair. However, there's always Rogaine (or Minoxidil) that can be applied daily to prevent future hair loss and in some cases regrow lost hair.

I tried Rogaine years ago and didn't like it very much, mostly because I couldn't get dedicated to applying it everyday and made my head itch and peel like the Dickens. After years of suffering from male Pattern baldness I decided to go with a Bosley hair restoration procedure. Since receiving the hair transplant back in July I've blogged my results on BattleAgainstBald.com. In addition to real hair restoration results the blog provides a wealth of information on hair loss and the methods for correcting it.

    Best of Luck,

    Egg Shampoo recipe

    2 cups water

    2 bars castile soap, grated

    1 ounce tincture of benzoin

    3 egg yolks

    2 ounces glycerin

    3 drops perfume
Try Nioxin...it is a great line.
Nioxin products are great, but if you've tried them and they didn't work for you, I'd suggest having an electrotherapy session at your nearest day spa. The High Frequency machine normally used in deep-treatment facials may help your scalp. Have your technician turn the frequency up to where it is uncomfortable but not so high as you absolutely can't stand it. The technician then ';bounces'; the argon-filled glass electrode over your scalp in a uniform pattern to clear any bacteria from just under the skin's surface. This may facilitate easier growth from your existing hair. My brother absolutely swears by this! Make sure you don't wear ANY metal jewelry and have no metal implants in your body (fillings in your teeth are okay, but will make an unpleasant taste in your mouth). Good luck!
Look for a shampoo that contains oil or nettle. Or you can try nettle tea .....not drinking it....just wet your hair with it an d wait 20 min and then wash it off.
Take 2 tbls. apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 2-3 x day. Heinz vinegar has 93 vitamins and minerals so hair will grow long, strong and thick.
I heard using horse shampoo helps grow hair or it either helps hair grow faster.
WOmen's Rogaine and special hair growth, breakage protection, and hair health shampoo, conditioner and treatment available in the black haircare section of a drug store. they really work, i use them!
no shampoo or hair product can actually reduce hair loss. try increasing your protein and iron intake. protein encourages hair folicles to grow. chicken, potatoes, beans, etc.
hey u needs to c ... urs doctor...hair loss is lake of iron...try taking iron tablets..........FERROUS SULPHATE 200MG TABLETS.....this is very good and i have tried so it did work for me.....but i will advise u check WIth urs doctor before u taking this tablets...................

I lost so much weight after having my gastric by pass, after 9 months of weight loss I began to loose my hair by the handfuls! I have tried Nixon did not work. I tried Rogaine did not work. But I went to see my surgeon who did my gastric by pass and he put me on a vitiam very cheap at any local drug store it is called ';Zinc Sulfate'; 250mg. At first you take 1 capsule 3 times a day for the first 2 months then 1 capsule 2 times a day for a month then 1 capsule every day. You will find it will grow back and you will stop loosing your hair. The question I have to ask is ';You getting enough protein in your daily diet?'; But as you know that Zinc helps the ammune system but you have to get the SULFATE for a faster and better absorbtion in your body for your hair. I had real thick hair and lost it to the point where you could totally see my scalp in between the hair. Took 4 months but it started coming back and I have all my hair back it is not course like it use to be. It is nice thick fine hair and I love it! Oh yeah the cost I go to Shopko and get them from the pharmist 100 capsules for $3.65 a bottle. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

    Shampoo/products..causing hair loss?

My hair has been fallling out, to the excess, since March 1---What shampoos or products are causing this? What hair products have you had bad experiences? Or heard of bad experiences?Shampoo/products..causing hair loss?
Alot of times it's stress or lack of proper nutrition that makes a person's hair fall out. If I were you I would consult your doctor because I hate to say it but I don't believe that shampoo is making your hair fall out. The shampoo companies could not make products that do that. I had a friend who was going through the same thing and she was only 16 but she saw her doctor and now she's fine. Good luck!Shampoo/products..causing hair loss?
Might not be the products. Could be alopecia. I would go to a trichologist or see your GP who can recommend one for a definite diagosis.
Its not the products, it you.

Don't worry too much, because that might make you lose some hairs!

    I'm just kidding.

But really just go to a doctor.

Do hair growth shampoos not hair loss shampoos damage my hair in the future?

do hair growth shampoos not hair loss shampoos damage my hair in the future or do they have lik effects in the futire 10 point best and complete answerDo hair growth shampoos not hair loss shampoos damage my hair in the future?
It really isn't the product per se that will damage the hair but what is in it...such as duplicating products with silicone, which will shine the hair, make it very soft and healthy looking but over use will build layers onto your hair causing it to become weak and break, also products with alcohol as the primary ingredient is very drying. But there are NO shampoos that grow the hair-there are medicated shampoos that prevent hair loss but many of those (Rogaine) have to be used on a continued basis or you will get the same result. Growth of hair is created by stimulating the scalp and keeping your hair and scalp clean and keeping damaged hair (ends) cut.Do hair growth shampoos not hair loss shampoos damage my hair in the future?
    lol ..
There are no such shampoos for hair growth. Depending upon the condition of your hair, you can use mild shampoos, normal shampoos or extra conditioning shampoos.
Hair loss shampoos help hair grow back. Hair growth shampoos don't work. There is no shampoo out there currently that can make your hair grow longer.
I think these shampoos have effected your ability to spell.
dont know.i want my hair to grow faster.

Just to share : Been on minoxidil for about a year and a half and have not seen even the smallest amount of regrowth that i almost fell into depression.

My hair only started visibly growing after doubtfully trying out the various natural techniques to re-grow lost hair @ http://www.regrowmyhair.info

I would highly recommend this easy to follow step-by-step guide with pictures to anyone who is suffering from hair loss right now.

Anyway, its also a cheaper and effective way of re-growing lost hair compared to those unnatural ways which may involve harsh chemicals that may have side effects.
Sunsilk has a good shampoo and conditioner it's called anti caida which means in english not to fall out or something. You can buy it any drugstore or walmart, It varies by location but shouldn't be too hard to find. It's not harsh on your hair, the smell is light and it actually smells good but not too strong of a smell. The main ingredient in it is Cactus. My mom used it and it really made her hair more stronger and moisturized. I will put the link in so you can take a look and see if you might like it.

Oh and also a benifit to using Sunsilk is that it has a leave in treatment that you can put in your hair after you shampoo and condition. There's also a store locater so you can find out where to buy it at. Hope this helps!

I've got the perfect solution for you. It's an amazing organic oil that has been popular in Israel and Morocco for years and is now just starting to get recognition for all it's amazing properties. It is called Argan oil. This oil contains all the necessary vitamins and natural element to nurture, moisturize, and heal not only your skin, but hairs and nails as well. It absorbs into the skin very fast as well; faster than most creams and lotions. It has been used by the Berber women of Morocco for centuries for use in skin, hair, nail, and therapeutic treatments. It is the all around most beneficial organic on the planet. I grew up in France and have been using it for years. It is used by models over there, and is practicially found in every spa and salon. For some reason it only grows in Morocco making it very exotic. I found a website that had the most information on all its different uses. Their Argan oil is certified and deodorized(the natural smell of argan oil can be overbearing).

I contacted them and they said they start selling in two weeks, but you can register at their website for a discount now.

Use shampoos with keratin or amino acids, it is a protein substance that hair is made of. It鈥檚 main function is to help seal breakages in the follicles.
eat lots of tomatoes as it is having vit c ,and have yellow coloured foodies.
try mixture of curd and egg

I use Herbal Essence Breaks Over shampoo and Ive noticed a lot of hair loss. Is this happening to anyone else?

i had the same thing happen when i used herbal essence (and so did a couple of my friends). one of my friends said it was due to the harsh herbal extracts--just because they're ';natural'; doesn't mean their good for your hair. (same with garnier fructese (spelling???)).

it's disappointing though, because that shampoo smells so good.I use Herbal Essence Breaks Over shampoo and Ive noticed a lot of hair loss. Is this happening to anyone else?
It could just be the time of year-I know certain times of the year I ';shed'; or if my hair hasn't been cut in a while and it needs it.

But some shampoos have an ingredient in there that actually causes hair loss-I don't know it off hand but my mom told me about it!I use Herbal Essence Breaks Over shampoo and Ive noticed a lot of hair loss. Is this happening to anyone else?
Linz, your problem may be corrected by proper intake of vitamins and minerals. Hope over to this site on how it is done:

Have you tried other shampoos? The shampoo you're using may not be suitable for you. Try shampoos with aloe vera as ingredient, or the 'horse' shampoo and conditioner, ';Mane 'N Tail';...

Also, try to have a protein treatment at a nearby salon.
Sorry about the thin hair. You should make an appointment with a dermatologist to make sure that their isn't a skin condition causing your hair loss. There are some conditions that are associated with hair loss, and so it would be good to rule those out first.

I am not sure if it is appropriate for someone your age, but ask your doctor if its good to use Rogaine. Absolutely consult your doctor first should you look into it.
the best thing for this problem is go AYURVEDA or herbal u find some good aurveda solutions in kerala they also ship the medecine if u can give online counselling with thm and aditionally when ever u use any knid of shampoo we in misconception use it concentrated so tht it will be more effective but the truth is if u dilute it and use it our scalp gets exposed to lesser chemical used in shampoos these days

also use baba ramdevs accupuncture technik s splly for preventions of hair loss

Hmm, this is a hard one, losing hair can be caused by all types of things. Some Shampoos can help, depends on the condition of your hair.

A lot of time it is due to a lack of something in the body, protein, nutrients etc. Also it can be caused by stres and lifestyle. How is your daily diet and lifestyle?

There are many products out there to help along with the correct shampoo and conditioners, the correct diet and correct lifestyle.

Have a look at a web site I found www.bring-my-hair-back.com which may be of good help to you.

anyway hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also you should use some herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

    good luck!

I don't know about this actual shampoo, but I do know that garlic really does help grow back hair. My old roommate randomly got 3 bald spots in the back of his head...we don't know why. He just heard that garlic would help. So he actually took a garlic clove, cut it in half, and then rubbed the cut end on the spots at least once a day... It grew his hair back! I think it took maybe about 2 months. It was the weirdest thing I have ever seen.

Im sorry I cant help with the shampoo, but the concept of the garlic does work! Good luck!

What could cause an extreme loss of hair in a 15 year old girl? Could it be from her shampoo?

    She is 15...

    it is urgent...

when she runs her fingers through her hair she gets like half a dozen hairs that come off. What could cause an extreme loss of hair in a 15 year old girl? Could it be from her shampoo?
it sounds as if she has telogen effluvium, for which there may be several causes (not shampoo, though). Or, she may have the generalized form of alopecia areata. It is best if she goes to her dermatologist, as she'll need a work up to see if there's a medical cause for it, that can be treated. What could cause an extreme loss of hair in a 15 year old girl? Could it be from her shampoo?
cancer doesnt cause hairloss, treatment for cancer does.

Six hairs doesnt seem that extreme. It is normal to lose 20-50 strands of hair per day. If you are losing over 100 strands per day THEN it indicates hair loss and you should see a doctor. If she really was losing a lot of hair I would say check to make sure shes getting a proper diet and right amount of vitamins.

I just ran my fingers once through the left side of my head, and five hairs came off. Six on the other side.

You have over 100,000 hair folicles on your head. If you only lost a dozen hairs a day it would take you 22 years to go bald if you completely stopped growing hair.

    Dont panic!
No, I doubt it's the shampoo. It's normal to shed some hair. I read that somewhere. But if she's losing what she thinks is a lot, maybe it could be a nutritional deficiency or something. Maybe she should try taking vitamins to see if that helps.
i had a friend that lost hair and problems with your thyroid can make you lose hair if they are over or under active.

my friend also lost alot of weight through this too but can be the opposite and you can gain weight
Causes could be lack of proper diet, lack of vitamins from a proper diet or some sort of illness.

    It's not the shampoo.

    See a doctor. Soon.

Good luck!
